Today I met the North Shore of Oahu... what a magical place these islands are...
Was fortunate to have a random, yet co-incidental, conversation with Raj from India today... a well read, philosophical man on a similar journey...
and then there was cousin good looking... our guide around the island today. He was one of those people who straight away invites you in, and holds you in a story... All 17 of us on the bus fell in love with his warmth. At the end of the day, he dropped everyone off and took me to a locals shop to grab some stuff and local prices, and then we had a fascinating Ishmael conversation, talking about values and beliefs and finding comfort and balance in who you are and your heritage... he is someone I am very keen to keep in touch with... we gave each other a recommendation for a book - love doing that sort of thing...
I had a magical day...
Tonight, as ever, the homeless folk of wakiki approached me.. I must have an honest, kind face? Im not sure. had some interesting conversations with them too. the first gent was an older man on hard times after returning from active service. A nice guy, really polite. and then I met a young guy from california... sweet, yet street savvy.... at I guess I would say living with some mental health issues... I kept having to hold his water, his food for good luck...
The weather was again devine... tomorrow is the big island, into the fire, volcano experience, which I find I am way too excited for...
heading back to Aust on tues morning. will have some time with my best friends and sister, then head down south to Adelaide to catch up with family and dinner with some girls from school... back to Qld for xmas, then boxing day (26th Dec) fly to Delhi... the count down is on... I still can't quite believe I am going there...
